Protest Rally Held in Moreh Over Pastors’ Killings and Detention of 14 Kuki Civilians

Thousands of people from the Kuki-Zo community participated in a public rally in Moreh today to protest the merciless ambush and killing of Kuki-Zo pastors/church leaders that occurred on 13 May 2026.

The rally also demanded the immediate and unconditional release of 14 Kuki-Zo civilians who are reportedly being held by Naga Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Senapati District.

The rally was jointly organized by various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Tengnoupal District. Participants from different villages, churches, and community organizations gathered in large numbers to express their grief, solidarity, and demand for justice.

The procession commenced from Galngam Lentol and proceeded through the main areas of Moreh town. Protesters carried placards and banners, raised slogans calling for justice for the slain church leaders, and urged the authorities to take swift action against those responsible for the killings.

The rally also appealed to the concerned authorities and organizations to ensure the safe and immediate release of the 14 abducted civilians.

Community leaders and representatives who addressed the gathering condemned the violence and emphasized the need for peace, justice, and the protection of human rights.

They called upon the government and relevant agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the killings and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The rally concluded peacefully with a reaffirmation of the community's commitment to seeking justice through democratic and lawful means.
