In a compelling appeal addressed to the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the Kuki Students' Organisation–General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) has requested the urgent intervention of Raj Bhawan to facilitate the conduct of the 2025 Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) Mains Examination in Churachandpur District as a special case.
Citing the enduring hardship of Kuki aspirants displaced or affected by the ongoing ethnic conflict in the state, the KSO-GHQ expressed deep concern over the recent MPSC notification (vide letter no. 7/10/2022-MPSC(DR) (Vol-II), dated July 11, 2025), which designates Imphal and Guwahati as the only examination centres for the forthcoming Mains examination.
In its memorandum to the Governor, the student body noted that this arrangement poses “undue physical, psychological, and financial hardship” to candidates from the hill districts, particularly those from the Kuki community. The organisation underscored that many promising candidates have already missed state-level competitive exams in the past due to the ongoing unrest and the exclusive concentration of examination centres in Imphal.
"We earnestly request your kind intervention to facilitate the conduct of the Mains examination in Churachandpur District. This would ensure inclusivity and equal opportunity for all eligible aspirants while addressing the logistical and emotional challenges posed by long-distance travel in a volatile environment," the appeal stated.
The KSO further highlighted that several major national-level competitive examinations—including UGC-NET, NEET, Agniveer, SSC, and banking exams—have recently been conducted successfully and peacefully in Churachandpur, proving the district’s logistical readiness and administrative capability.
The memorandum was jointly signed by Dr. Seiboi Touthang, General Secretary, and T. Haokip, Education Secretary of the KSO-GHQ, who emphasized that holding the MPSC exam in Churachandpur would not only promote fairness and accessibility but also “restore faith in democratic institutions” and “ensure that no deserving youth is left behind due to circumstances beyond their control.”
