GCI Hosts Powerful Career Guidance Drive To Shape Futures In Manipur’s Hill Districts

The Gunchu Coaching Institute has once again stepped forward to ignite hope among the youth by organising a high-impact Career Guidance Programme under the theme “A Guide for a Better Future.”

Held at LNC Hall in Kangpokpi town on Friday, the programme was not merely an academic exercise but a transformative platform aimed at equipping students—especially those at the crossroads after Class 12—with clarity, direction and confidence to pursue meaningful careers.

The initiative focused on key areas such as career planning and goal setting, exploring career options, understanding individual strengths and interests, and navigating opportunities after Class 12—subjects often overlooked in remote and conflict-affected regions.

The programme brought together a panel of accomplished professionals as resource persons, whose journeys reflect resilience, discipline and success.

Among them were Thangtinlen Chongloi, Sub-Inspector in CRPF, representing the armed forces and disciplined services; Jack Lungougin Kipgen, Assistant Section Officer in the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance, who offered insights into central government services; Dr Jerry Heljalen Dimngel, MBBS, who guided students aspiring for careers in medicine; and Paominthang Haokip, IBPS-PO, who shared real-life experiences from the banking and financial sector.

Each speaker provided first-hand guidance on cracking competitive examinations, maintaining consistency and overcoming socio-economic barriers, which deeply resonated with the attending students.

Gunchu Coaching Institute proprietor Thangboi Haokip said that in regions like Kangpokpi district, where exposure to diverse career paths remains limited, such programmes play a critical role in bridging the information gap.

He said career guidance is not merely about choosing a profession, but about helping students discover their strengths and passions, preventing misinformed career choices, reducing dropout rates caused by lack of direction, and encouraging ambition beyond geographical and social limitations.

For many students, the programme served as their first structured interaction with successful professionals, turning abstract aspirations into achievable goals, he added.

The initiative comes on the heels of the institute’s remarkable rise as a centre of excellence in competitive examination coaching.

Established in 2021, the institute has, within a short span of four years, produced over 100 successful candidates who have cracked various central competitive examinations and secured positions in central services.

Notably, within just four months of achieving that milestone, the institute added another 100 successful candidates, taking the total to over 200 selections in central services—a feat rarely matched by institutes operating in challenging environments such as Manipur’s hill districts.

With sustained efforts by the institute, students from remote villages, many with limited exposure and resources, are now breaking barriers and entering prestigious government services, transforming not only their own lives but also inspiring entire communities.

By organising such career guidance programmes, the institute is not only preparing students for examinations but also shaping mindsets, building confidence and nurturing a generation that dares to dream beyond limitations.
