In the spirit of India’s 79th Independence Day, the 112 Bn. CRPF, Kangpokpi, led by Rajesh Kumar, DIG (Ops), Range Kangpokpi, along with Ranjan Kumar Baruah, Commandant, 112 Bn. CRPF Kangpokpi, and all the officers, subordinate officers, and jawans of 112 Bn. CRPF, organised a vibrant bike rally to promote the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign.
The rally, which began at Kangpokpi Bazar, saw CRPF personnel, Kangpokpi Police led by Officer-in-Charge H. Kipgen, and enthusiastic youths of the town riding tricolour-adorned bikes to Yaikongpao village along National Highway-2 before returning to Brig. M. Thomas Ground. The four-kilometre ride turned the highway into a wave of saffron, white, and green, accompanied by spirited slogans and patriotic songs.
Residents lined the route, cheering and waving the national flag, as the atmosphere buzzed with a palpable sense of pride. The overwhelming public participation reflected the success of the campaign’s core message — that the tricolour belongs in every home, symbolising unity, freedom, and shared responsibility.
CRPF's DIG (Ops), Rajesh Kumar, flagged off the bike rally at Kangpokpi Bazar. Some of the CRPF personnel were seen enthusiastically running along with the bikes, holding the tricolour, till Daili village, approximately 2 km from Kangpokpi Town.
The bike rally culminated near Brig. M. Thomas Ground, where preparations for the massive celebration of the 79th Independence Day are underway.
DIG Rajesh Kumar underscored the deeper purpose of the campaign. “Every flag in a household is not just a piece of cloth — it is a tribute to the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and a living emblem of national unity,” he said. Highlighting that the Har Ghar Tiranga drive is being conducted wherever the CRPF is deployed, Kumar emphasised its role in rekindling the patriotic spirit for which countless lives were laid down during India’s struggle for independence.
The DIG also drew a poignant link between the rally and Manipur’s own historic struggle. “Today also marks August 13, 1891, the day when the British attempted to overthrow the King’s rule in Manipur. This day is now observed as Patriotic Day by the people of Manipur, and we join in commemorating the courage and resilience of our forefathers,” he said.
Calling for unity across all sections of society, Kumar reminded citizens that freedom was earned through immense sacrifice and must be preserved through collective dedication. “Regardless of caste or creed, we must work together with determination to build our nation,” he urged.
