The ruling party in Mizoram, Zoram People’s Movement, has expressed deep sorrow and strongly condemned the killing of three leaders of the Thadou Baptist Association who were attacked on May 13 while travelling from Lamka in Manipur to Kangpokpi district.
In a statement issued by the ZPM General Headquarters in Aizawl, the party identified the victims as Rev. Vumsong Sitlhou, Rev. Kaigoulin Lhouvum, and Rev. Paugoulen Sitlhou.
The party stated that it was “deeply saddened” by the tragic incident and described the killing of religious leaders in such a brutal manner as a matter of grave concern. It strongly condemned those responsible for the attack.
ZPM further stated that irrespective of whether the victims belonged to the Kuki, Thadou, or any other community, violence against the Chin-Kuki-Mizo people was also a matter of deep concern for the Mizo community.
The party expressed hope that such incidents would never recur and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the security and peace of Zo people wherever they may be.
“As a party representing all Mizo and Zo-ethnic groups, ZPM will continue to stand firm in protecting the security and peace of Zo people,” the statement added.
