The United Naga Council on Monday clarified that The Watchpoint Journal, a Facebook page, reported that the United Naga Council meeting held on April 24 at Tahamzam (Senapati) was fabricated and misleading.
In a statement, the UNC clarified that no war mandate was placed before the house and that no resolution was adopted at the April 24, 2026 meeting.
In keeping with Naga customary practice, the house unanimously affirmed that the Naga people must collectively face the issues concerning land, with particular attention to Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong, and the undivided Senapati district.
In the spirit of unity and collective wisdom, it was agreed that proper modalities and wider consultations would be worked out before any course of action is undertaken, the UNC added.
The statement further added that the UNC reaffirms its commitment to “Forward With Unity” and that no district stands against Naga interests.
The UNC urged all Nagas not to be misled by divisive reports, adding that official updates will be issued only through UNC channels.
In a social media post on April 24, The Watchpoint Journal claimed that a high-level coordination meeting convened by the United Naga Council (UNC) at its office in Tahamzam (Senapati) failed to produce a decisive or unanimous resolution on the question of escalating tensions with the Kuki-Zo community, as key constituent bodies pushed back against any move toward full-scale war.
The Watchpoint Journal also claimed that the Chandel Naga CSO and the Tamenglong Naga CSO both declined to endorse any trajectory toward full-fledged conflict with the Kuki-Zo community.
