The Joint Tribe Council, Manipur, representing the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei, and Zeme tribes has advised the  Zeliangrong United Front (Jeanchui) to immediately return all seized items and ensure the safety and dignity of the council leaders.

JTCM issued a statement condemning the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF-J) for its recent action against the President of the RNCM (Co-convenor of JTCM), Vice President of RNCM, General Secretary of RNCM, and Chairman, RNYOM-NTL.

JTCM demanded that the ZUF-J tender an unreserved apology for the misconduct shown towards our leaders, specifically for their failure to properly identify our leader and for their rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful behaviours

"To deprive civil society leaders already operating under extreme duress of their phones and other essential means of communication and survival in the current volatile situation is not only an act of grave cruelty but also a deliberate attempt to endanger lives and silence legitimate voices. Such behaviour has no place in any society that claims to uphold justice, dignity, or humanity", JTCM added

Obstructing their work and refusing to show even basic respect to their leaders is profoundly barbaric and such act directly hinders the welfare of the entire community, as the RNCM and JTCM leadership is now paralyzed and unable to coordinate aid, receive distress calls, or advocate for the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme communities they represent, the release stated.

Condemning the act in the fullest possible terms JTCM stated that  the current crisis demands unity, compassion, and the free flow of information not the reckless and authoritarian withholding of basic necessities from those working to serve the people.

JTCM warned that any further obstruction or intimidation of civil society organization leaders will be met with firm and collective resistance from all our communities.
