Director, Rural Development Ramavatar Meena told officials in Churachandpur to show the difference between MGNREGA and VB G RAM G

The director said there are lots of difference and the focus of the government is that the difference are experience by the people.

Director of Rural Development (DoRD) Ramavatar Meena visit Churachandpur district of Manipur on Wednesday.

The director access the preparedness and facilitate the successfull roll out of VB- GRAM- G in Churachandpur district.

Ramavatar interacted with district officials at conference hall in Deputy Commissioner office and to told officials to show the difference between MGNREGA and VB G RAM G.

The director said there are lots of difference and the focus of the government is that the difference are experience by the people.

To open worksite, the director said Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan(VGPP) should be prepared by the village panchayat and that preparing VGPP should be given a priority.

" You have to provide work within 15 days otherwise you have to provide unemployment allowance. You should also ensure that the work is taken up with within 5 km radius. If it is beyond 5km ,you have to pay transport allowance" the director informed the officials.

The director instructed the officials to ensure timely payment within 14 days though direct benefit transfer(DBT) .

Stating that VB G RAM G provides a provision wherein 30 percent of employment must be provided to women, Ramavatar said, 'to ensure women employment, necessary facilities must be provided in worksite and grievance redressal should also be strengthen".

While instructing the officials that transparency must be maintained in executing the work, the director said, in the past there are instances wherein workers were absent in worksite but they receive payment.

The director further said that such system will not longer be possible. He said technology-enabled tools, including biometric authentication, geo-tagging and real-time monitoring dashboards, would be used to improve transparency and accountability.

The director along with officials visited ongoing work sites at Headquarter Veng and Rengkai village (Lamka Block), and Bethel village (Tuibong Block). Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, DRDA Project Director Jameson Sehlal Hangsing, Block Development Officers and other Rural Development officials accompanied him.

During the field visits, the Director interacted with Rural Development functionaries and Village Council leaders to review the progress of ongoing projects and discuss the implementation plan for the current financial year.

He called for close coordination between officials and local institutions to ensure effective implementation of government schemes and expressed satisfaction with the quality of work executed.
