Churachandpur Police to organise ‘10K Run for Unity’ on August 8 to highlight national unity and the ill effects of drugs

Churachandpur Police will organise a ‘10K Run for Unity’ on August 8 to highlight national unity and raise awareness about the ill effects of drugs.

The run is scheduled to begin from Forest Gate Traffic Point, Tuibong, and will pass through different parts of the district before concluding at Peace Ground.

In connection with the proposed run, Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur, Gaurav Dogra, briefed the media at the conference hall of the Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur, on Thursday.

The SP said around 3,000 registrations, including those of a 13-year-old and a 63-year-old, have been received for the run, excluding police personnel. He said the run is being organised to encourage people to abstain from drugs, promote a healthy lifestyle, strengthen relations between the police and the public, and celebrate fitness.

The SP informed that the top three winners in both the men's and women's categories will receive cash prizes of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,000, and Rs. 5,000, respectively. He added that the top 200 participants will also be awarded a commemorative medal along with a participation certificate.

The SP also honoured Traffic Wing personnel of Churachandpur Police, Nianglianmawi, with a certificate and a cash reward of Rs. 2,000 in appreciation of her exemplary dedication and professionalism in the discharge of her duties.

Additional SP (Law and Order), Churachandpur, Lawrence K. Munluo, said the district police have organised the 10 km run to promote unity. Lawrence said, "The main purpose of the run is unity as we are celebrating Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. Through this event, we would like to highlight the importance of national unity."

The Additional SP said the run is also being organised to highlight the ill effects of drugs and the impact they have had on the youth of the district.

He encouraged all young people to participate in the mini marathon and spread the message that the people stand against drugs.

"So many promising young lives have been destroyed by drugs. We say no to drugs, yes to life, yes to a healthy lifestyle, and yes to staying healthy and active. That is also the mission of the 10K Run, which will be organised on August 8," Lawrence said.
