Nagas in Manipur Observes 11th Anniversary of Framework Agreement.

The 11th Anniversary of the Signing of the Indo-Naga Framework Agreement was observed by Nagas in Manipur in naga inhabited districts on Monday.

Under the aegis of the United Naga Council, Naga People’s Organisation , Senapati District Women’s Association and Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) observed the day in Senapati Bazar wherein a a rally was also organised through Senapati town.

NPO President, Kuba Peter while addressing the gathering in Senapati bazar said the historic Indo-Naga Framework Agreement was signed on August 3, 2015, at the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after eighteen years of negotiations

Peter said, if the government of India departs from the spirit and understanding of the Framework Agreement and if no honourable political solution is achieved even after eleven years, the Naga people must remain united and prepared to face any challenges.

President United Naga Council Ng Lorho said many senior Naga nationalists still hope to witness a final settlement of the agreement and he expressed disappointment over the prolonged negotiations without a logical conclusion.

The UNC president alleged that the Government of India had made a “U-turn” from the agreement by refusing to recognise the Naga national flag and constitution, which he said is an inseparable components of Naga identity.

The prolonged negotiations and repeated unfulfilled promises had led to growing frustration among the Naga people said Lorho.

The participants of the observation also raised slogans demanding early solution.

In ukhrul, Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) and its frontal organizations observed the day at Ukhrul Town Hall.

The event concluded with a public rally to the Mini Secretariat wherein the cso leaders submitted a public declaration to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah through khrul Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya.

In Tamenglong the day was observed at the Conference Hall, UBC, Tamenglong District Headquarters. Different leaders of Naga civil society organisations took part in the observation
