Inspector Jeffrey Hmingchullou of the 203 COBRA Battalion, CRPF, a recipient of the nation’s third-highest peacetime gallantry award, the Shaurya Chakra, was felicitated by the 27 Sector Assam Rifles and the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur district on Friday.
Commander of 27 Sector Assam Rifles, Brigadier S. Prashant, along with his forces, welcomed Inspector Jeffrey at the sector headquarters and presented him with a memento in recognition of his outstanding achievement.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Dharun Kumar, also invited Inspector Jeffrey to his office and presented him with a gift.
During their meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reportedly informed Inspector Jeffrey that the district administration would make efforts to ensure he receives an incentive award from the State as well.
Inspector Jeffrey Hmingchullou arrived at his home in Vengthlang, Rengkai, Churachandpur district on Thursday and was warmly received by the Hmar Youth Association (GHQ).
In May this year, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Shaurya Chakra, India’s third-highest peacetime gallantry award, on Inspector Jeffrey Hmingchullou of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for his exceptional bravery during a high-risk anti-Naxal operation in Jharkhand last year.
Inspector Hmingchullou was among 14 recipients honoured with the Shaurya Chakra at the Defence Investiture Ceremony – I, held at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
