Churachandpur district based media personnels visited Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Tuinom, following reports of various issues faced by students on the campus.

The team visited the JNV campus on June 26, interacted with the In-charge Principal, and sought information regarding the prevailing situation on the campus.

Along with the In-charge Principal, the media team inspected various facilities, including the dormitories, mess halls, drinking water facilities, and other areas of the school.

During the inspection, it was found that the girls' hostels/dormitories are overcrowded, and the water used by the girls for bathing had an unpleasant smell.

The girls' mess hall does not have adequate drinking water facilities. Some girl students have also been staying in temporary tin/corrugated galvanised iron (CGI) sheet structures for nearly two years and reportedly face severe difficulties due to excessive heat during the summer.

The junior boys' hostel is also overcrowded.

There appears to be a lack of proper discipline on the campus, with reports of senior students bullying juniors.

It was also learnt that some senior students allegedly demand money (₹50–₹100) from junior students to purchase alcohol.

Some senior students reportedly leave the campus at night without proper authorisation. It has also been reported that some seniors force juniors to purchase unauthorised tobacco products, juice, and other eatables from outside the campus, creating an unhealthy and inappropriate environment for the students.

It has been alleged that communal sentiments have been spreading among students during the tenure of the outgoing Principal.

There are also allegations that the outgoing Principal took away some school property while leaving the institution.

Due to the alleged malfunctions and irregular practices within the campus, many parents have reportedly withdrawn their children from the school.

Sources informed that the involvement of various tribe-based student organisations in the affairs of JNV has reportedly created difficulties in the smooth functioning of the institution.

The findings of the media team have also been brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner. It is learnt that the Deputy Commissioner is planning to visit the JNV campus within the next few days.
