The Kuki-Zo women in Churachandpur district protested against the arrest of three individuals from T. Munjang village by security personnel on Thursday morning.
Questioning the reasons behind the arrests and seeking a response from the authorities concerned, the women staged a protest in front of the Garhwal Regiment camp at Kotlen.
One of the protesters, Linda, said that at around 3–4 a.m. on Thursday, the residence of the T. Munjang village chief was raided by security personnel.
Linda alleged that around four to five Cassper vehicles arrived, rammed the gate, and forcefully trespassed onto private property. She claimed that security personnel took away three individuals, including a 16-year-old minor. She further stated that the three individuals were taken away despite having no arms or weapons in their possession.
Following the incident, mothers from the area gathered at the Garhwal Regiment camp in Kotlen to ascertain whether the regiment was involved in the operation, Linda said. She added that, as of now, it remains unconfirmed who took the three individuals.
She further stated that they are still awaiting a response from the authorities, as the Garhwal Regiment has claimed that it has no knowledge of the incident.
