“Deeply saddened and anguished by the brutal killing of Kuki church leaders in Manipur. Such heinous violence is utterly condemnable and unacceptable. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the church community,” he wrote.
Conrad Sangma also reacted to the incident, saying, “Deeply disturbed and anguished by the attack on TBA church leaders in Kangpokpi District, Manipur. Such acts of unprovoked violence and brutality against leaders who work to foster peace, unity, and brotherhood are unacceptable and must be strongly condemned. I urge the authorities in Manipur to take immediate and strict action against those responsible,” he posted on X.
Neiphiu Rio, condemning the incident, stated, “I strongly condemn the brutal killing of a delegation of Kuki church leaders in Manipur. Such barbaric violence against innocent lives is unacceptable and has no place in any civilised society. Condolences to the bereaved families and the church community during this time of grief,” he wrote on X.
The opposition party in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly — Mizo National Front (MNF) — has also strongly condemned the killing of three Kuki church leaders who were shot dead in an ambush in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Wednesday.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Mizo National Front expressed deep sorrow over the killings and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.
The party said it was deeply pained by the incident and called for those responsible for the attack to be identified and punished according to the law.
The MNF stated that the incident was especially disturbing at a time when the situation in Manipur had begun showing signs of improvement after prolonged ethnic tensions and violence.
