The 112 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commemorated its 36th Raising Day at the district headquarters in Kangpokpi with a series of ceremonial and cultural events, underscoring its legacy of service, sacrifice and operational commitment in a sensitive region.
The celebrations, marked by pomp and disciplined display, were preceded by a week-long lineup of activities including inter-company sports competitions, a debate on the prevailing security scenario in Manipur, and an online quiz aimed at fostering esprit de corps among personnel.
E Company clinched the volleyball title, while A Company emerged victorious in the tug-of-war event. Exhibition matches involving personnel from various branches added a lighter, participatory dimension to the observance.
Paying homage to the fallen, the battalion honoured its martyrs at the Martyrs’ Memorial, reaffirming its commitment to duty amid ongoing security challenges. Senior officials revisited the unit’s operational achievements, calling them a source of motivation for the ranks tasked with maintaining stability in the region.
The formal proceedings included a guard of honour to the Commandant, followed by a Special Sainik Sammelan held at the Quarter Guard.
A cultural programme held in the evening brought together senior security and civil officials, with DIG (Operations), Kangpokpi Range, Rajesh Kumar, attending as the chief guest. Among others present were Commandant RK Baruah (112 BN CRPF), Commandant Ritul Das (100 BN RAF), Commandant Love Kumar (152 BN CRPF), Commandant Himanshu Choudhary (105 BN BSF), Kangpokpi SP Abhinav (IPS), Senapati SP Shaikh Mohd Zaib Zakir (IPS), along with officials from various departments, local media representatives, and invited guests.
Ex-CRPF personnel from the Kangpokpi area also attended the event with their families, adding to the sense of continuity and shared legacy.
Cultural performances reflecting India’s diversity — including Thadou-Kuki's Suhta Kaam, Bihu, Bhangra, Jharkhandi and Rajasthani dances — were staged, alongside solo songs and patriotic renditions by unit personnel. A yoga demonstration by trained personnel was also presented.
The celebrations concluded with a traditional ‘Bara Khana’, symbolising unity and camaraderie within the force, with personnel partaking in the feast irrespective of rank.
The event highlighted not only the battalion’s operational readiness but also its enduring emphasis on unity, discipline and collective spirit amid evolving security dynamics in Manipur.
