Zomi Co-ordination Committee to begin democratic agitations

The Zomi Co-ordination Committee (ZCC) has announced that democratic agitations, in all legitimate forms, shall now commence across Zomi areas in a phased and coordinated manner with immediate effect.

The Zomi Coordination Committee issued a release on Wednesday informing the public that the month-long Zomi National Mourning, observed in honour of Late Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte, concludes on March 31.

The Zomi community has observed the mourning period with restraint, dignity, and unity befitting Vungzagin’s life and legacy.

However, despite repeated representations, there has been no meaningful response from the concerned authorities on the issues of justice, accountability, and fulfilment of his unfinished initiatives, stated the release.

“In accordance with the Committee's earlier resolution, the conclusion of this mourning period marks the beginning of a new phase. The continued inaction of the authorities will inevitably determine the course and intensity of public response”, the committee stated.

ZCC urged the public to remain united, disciplined, and prepared for further directions.
