
Two Kuki-Zo Assam Rifles personnel who were recently awarded the Shaurya Chakra by the President of India on June 9 received a heroic reception in their hometown of Churachandpur district, Manipur, on Thursday.
The two awardees are Subedar Ph. Moses of the 1st Assam Rifles and Rifleman Manglemsang Vaiphei of the 3rd Assam Rifles, who is now a Havildar. According to reports, Moses, who hails from Canan Veng in Churachandpur, fearlessly took on terrorists near the Indo-Myanmar border, neutralising two militants and foiling an infiltration attempt.
Manglemsang, from Khominthang village in Churachandpur, was honoured in recognition of his exceptional bravery, courage, and selfless service during a counter-infiltration operation, reports stated.
Led by the Young Paite Association, a philanthropic organisation, and the Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association, Churachandpur, a convoy of vehicles received the two Assam Rifles personnel at the Mizoram–Manipur border.
The convoy passed through several villages, where short reception programmes were organised. Upon reaching Churachandpur town, the Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association, Churachandpur, organised an official reception programme for the duo.
