
T. Vaichong High School in T. Vaichong Sub Division Kangpokpi District situated around 60 Km. from Kangpokpi District Headqaurters celebrated the 79th Independence Day with grandeur and patriotic zeal, hosting a vibrant flag hoisting ceremony at the Bazaar Ground. The event brought together students, teachers, and dignitaries in a spirited display of unity and national pride.
The ceremony was graced by Pu Lhunkhohen, SMDC Convener, as the Chief Guest, along with the presence of Village Authority of T. Vaichong, CRPF Banglabung, and SMDC members. The programme was seamlessly anchored by Pinki Murasing Abonmai.
The proceedings commenced with a morning prayer led by students, followed by an introduction and welcome address from Vice Principal Thangkholim. The Chief Guest then unfurled the Tricolour, leading the gathering in a rousing rendition of the National Anthem.
A spirited march past by Class VIII and Class IX students set the tone for the celebrations, symbolising discipline and dedication. The cultural segment featured an energetic dance performance by Tanu and Friends, a soulful special number by Monica Rai of Class X, and a lively cultural dance by L.K. Hostels, showcasing the region’s rich heritage.

In his Independence Day address, the Chief Guest underlined the historic significance of August 15 as a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the nation’s liberty. He urged the students to uphold the values of freedom, unity, discipline, and responsibility, reminding them that the real celebration of independence lies in contributing positively to society. He also stressed the role of education as a powerful tool for preserving democracy and driving national progress, encouraging the youth to channel their talents towards building a stronger, self-reliant India.
The Chief Guest’s stirring words resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring both students and teachers to carry forward the torch of patriotism and service to the community.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Assistant Teacher Seingam, and the day’s formalities closed with an afternoon prayer by the students.
The celebration not only honoured the nation’s independence but also reinforced the school’s commitment to nurturing informed, responsible, and patriotic citizens.
