
In a significant outreach initiative, Director of Social Welfare, Manipur, Sheikh Abdul Hakim, visited Churachandpur district on Thursday along with departmental staff under the leadership of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh.
The visit aimed at strengthening coordination with elected representatives and ensuring effective delivery of welfare schemes to the hill areas.
During the visit, the Director hold meetings with several MLAs, including Letzamang Haokip of Henglep Assembly Constituency, Chinlunthang Manlun of Singhat assembly constituency and interacted with Anganwadi workers, helpers, supervisors, and departmental staff.
The director also paid homage to late Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte residence and expressed his heartfelt condolences.
Briefing to media at the residence of late Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte, Sheikh Abdul Hakim said the department is reviewing all schemes. The director said, "as of now we cannot say which areas we are lacking. But, we are trying to outreach what we are lacking".
The director said he is going to meet Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip, ChurChandpur MLA LM Khaute and that he has already meet Hengle MLA Letzamang Haokip, Singat MLA Chinlunthang and son of late Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte.
The director said he had discussed schemes implemented by social welfare department and the department will try to address their grievance at best level under the under the leadership and guidance of Manipur chief minister.
Regarding direct benefit transfer for pensioners, the director added that the department is going to release the pension for 6-9 months very shortly in the month of April.
"We are collecting data from concerned MLAs and department officials and we will release those amounts' the director added
He said the department is trying to reach all schemes at ground level with cooperation of MLAs and guidance of the chief minister.
