Security forces recover arms and ammunition from J. Songtun in Kangpokpi district

During the withdrawal of security forces, villagers, mainly women, blocked the road with stones and demanded return of the unverified firearms and ammunition.

Security forces recover arms and ammunition during a cordon and search operation at J. Songtun Village in Kangpokpi district on Monday.

As per the police, the operation was jointly conducted by a combined team of Manipur Police, CRPF, RAF and CoBRA. The team recovered two country-made 12-bore guns,  ⁠fourteen 12-bore guns bearing various manufacturers/serial/license markings,  ⁠1,225 rounds of 12-bore ammunition, six VHF/wireless sets and three chargers, one Golden Antler telescope and 18 Bullet proof vests and a pouch.

During the withdrawal of security forces, villagers, mainly women, blocked the road with stones and demanded return of the unverified firearms and ammunition. However, the same was dispersed and situation brought under control by the security forces police stated
