The S. Changoubung Village Authority has strongly condemned what it described as “unprovoked and disrespectful actions” by certain volunteers from T. Khullen during the ongoing bandh called by the United Naga Council from April 21 to 23.

According to the Authority, individuals from T. Khullen allegedly crossed into the jurisdiction of S. Changoubung without prior consent and obstructed public roads, disrupting the movement of residents. The statement further claimed that some individuals entered the village and attempted to force local shopkeepers to shut down their businesses.

The Authority termed these actions a violation of the village’s autonomy and dignity, stating that coercion and intimidation undermine peaceful coexistence and mutual respect between neighbouring communities.

At the same time, the S. Changoubung Village Authority clarified that it holds no hostility toward the people of T. Khullen and does not oppose the bandh itself. The statement emphasized that the concern is limited to the reported unauthorized entry and the behavior of certain individuals.

Calling for restraint, the Authority urged all parties to respect established boundaries and maintain peace. It also appealed to relevant authorities to take necessary steps to prevent similar incidents in the future and to ensure the safety and rights of villagers.
