
The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda has agreed to upgrade RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences), Imphal, to the status of AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences).
This was informed by Nadda during a meeting with Chief Minister of Manipur Yumnam Khemchand Singh in New Delhi on Monday.
As per a release issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Monday, Nadda also agreed to approve the proposal for the establishment of a new medical college in Senapati district of the state.
It was stated that the Chief Minister expressed his profound gratitude to the Union Minister of Health for taking steps to improve the health sector in the state.
Earlier, on August 26, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a meeting with Chief Minister Khemchand, had agreed to lay the foundation stone of Senapati Medical College during his visit to Manipur in the first week of October this year.
