Police apprehends man for extorting money from public
From his possession, one mobile handset and cash amounting to Rs. 10,000 was recovered. A case has been taken up for further investigation
Churachanpdur Police on Wednesday apprehended an individual who was involved in extorting money from the general public in the name of different armed organisations.
Based on own input regarding extortion activities, a team of Churachandpur Police Station conducted surveillance at Khomoi village Churachandpur around 6 pm, launched an operation and apprehended the individual from Khomoi village.
On verification, the man identified himself as 44 year old Letginthang Haokip son of (L) Mangthang Haokip of ST. Chullouphai Village, Churachandpur District. On enquiry Letginthang admitted to have carried out extortion activities on general public in the name of different organisations.
From his possession, one mobile handset and cash amounting to Rs. 10,000 was recovered. A case has been taken up for further investigation
