National Road Safety Observed in Pherzawl; BBBP Awareness & Free Medical Camps Held

The observance, held under the theme “Road Safety, Life Safety,” was conducted under the supervision of DC Pherzawl.

The 37th National Road Safety Month, 2026 was observed across Thanlon, Tipaimukh and Vangai Range Sub-Divisions of Pherzawl district today with a series of awareness programmes and public rallies aimed at promoting safer road practices. The observance, held under the theme “Road Safety, Life Safety,” was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Pherzawl, Smt. Mannaumching, IAS.

Leading the programme at Senvon village, ADC Pherzawl, Joel G. Haokip, underscored the importance of adhering to traffic rules and guidelines issued by national, state and district authorities. He said the primary objective of Road Safety Month is to create awareness among the general public, particularly vehicle drivers, and appealed to residents to strictly follow traffic norms for the safety of all road users. He also cautioned that violators would face penalties as per rules.

As part of the month-long observance, awareness rallies were organised at Patpuihmun, Thanlon and Senvon villages, while road safety posters and hoardings were installed at Sinzawl to spread awareness among commuters and pedestrians.
Officials and participants also took the Road Safety Pledge during the programme. The event was attended by several senior officials, including SDO Parbung Zousanglur Joute, MCS; SDPO Parbung Jangkholen Haokip, MPS; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Hmanglamkhup Kom; health officials, Parbung village authorities, and officials from the District Administration and District Police.

In addition to road safety activities, the District Administration of Pherzawl, in collaboration with the District Health Society and the District Social Welfare Office, organised a free medical camp for senior citizens, including cataract screening, at Senvon village. A medical camp for children under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was also held, along with Free Medicines provided to patients.

A community awareness and sensitisation programme led by SDO Thanlon/Vangai Range Lalthanzam Infimate, MCS was also held under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiatives at Kangreng village under Vangai Range Sub-Division. (DIO Pherzawl)
