Naga youth shot dead, UNC blames Kuki militants under SoO

A 17 year old youth was reportedly shot dead between Takou and Tama(Malek) villages, Tamei Sub division Tamenglong by unknown miscreants on Monday.

The youth has been identified as N.K Wiphenbou of Upper Takou Village. Though no one has claimed responsibility for the incident till the time this report has been filed and there has been no official report from the police, Naga groups have blamed Kuki militants under SoO for the incident.

Condemning the ‘cold-blooded murder’, United Naga Council said the youth was waylaid and executed between Takou and Tama (Malek) villages, Tamei sub-Division, Tamenglong, by the Kuki militants under the SoO pact.

UNC stated that such cowardly targeting of an innocent child is not merely a crime; it is an act of terror, barbarism of the highest order, and a grave violation of all human values and international humanitarian norms.

The Council holds the perpetrators and their sponsors fully accountable and demands immediate justice. The Council further expresses its gravest concern and outrage over the continuous killing, burning of houses, and relentless, premeditated firing attacks upon Chawangkining, Liangmai village and other Naga villages along the IT Road, Kangpokpi, carried out by allegedly by Kuki militants, KNF P and its alliance forces under the SoO pact.

“These are not isolated incidents but a systematic campaign of aggression, ethnic persecution, and scorched-earth violence aimed at terrorizing, displacing, and annihilating the indigenous Naga populace”, UNC stated.

UNC stated that it stands resolutely in solidarity with the bereaved families of our fallen brethren and with all afflicted villages whose homes have been torched and lives shattered. Their pain and loss are of the entire Naga nation.
The continued killings, arson, and gun violence against the indigenous communities—the rightful masters of the soil is a direct consequence of abject state security failure and willful complicity.

UNC further stated that the government must answer for patronizing, shielding, and maintaining on its payroll these Kuki militant groups under the SoO pact while they orchestrate a series of crimes and atrocities with impunity.

The council stated that this proxy war waged by the state against indigenous peoples through armed mercenaries is a heinous, state-sponsored crime that crosses all limits of humanity and democratic governance.

The Council calls upon all Nagas, without exception, to remain highly vigilant, alert, and steadfastly united and to stand as one to defend lives, lands, homes, and future of nagas from external aggression.
