Mizoram Rajya Sabha MP K. Vanlalvena has requested the Ministry of Civil Aviation to consider introducing a regular helicopter service between Aizawl and Churachandpur district of Manipur.
The MP wrote to Jyotiraditya M. Scindia Minister of Civil Aviation on Tuesday requesting for a regular helicopter service along the said route
under the UDAN scheme or other suitable arrangements, ensuring adequate seating capacity to meet the growing demand.
Vanlalvena stated that the connectivity between these two important towns is critical for facilitating movement of citizens, students, and officials, and for strengthening socio-economic ties between the two states.
At present, the limited air connectivity poses significant challenges, particularly for senior citizens, patients requiring urgent medical care, and those engaged in essential services.
As such, a regular helicopter service with larger passenger capacity would greatly ease travel difficulties, reduce transit time, and enhance accessibility for the people of Mizoram and Manipur, the letter stated.
Earlier Kuki Inpi Delhi, a kuki zo body based in Delhi had apprised the minister regarding regularization and deployment of larger-capacity helicopter services from Aizawl to Lamka, Separate Administration Bill in parliament and proposal for for establishing a Kuki Complex in Delhi.
