The Leilon Vaiphei Village Authority has firmly denounced the baseless accusations and misleading claims circulating on social media that wrongfully target the village chief, Lalboi Vaiphei.
The village authority stated that the ongoing slander campaign against Lalboi Vaiphei appears to be a deliberate attempt by certain vested-interest individuals to tarnish his reputation and malign his image before the public.
In a release, the village authority stated that the allegations that Leilon Vaiphei was involved in the recent hostage-taking are false, concocted, and entirely illogical. It added that such conduct is reckless and irresponsible, as it foments hatred, inflames communal tensions, and distracts from the facts.
The entire state is aware that the present unrest arose from the unfortunate incident of May 13, 2026, and linking the village chief to any of these developments is not only without foundation but also contrived and wholly illogical.
The village authority appealed to all concerned citizens to uphold the truth, maintain communal harmony, and refrain from spreading unverified allegations that only deepen misunderstanding and tension within society.
Zillai General Headquarters (GHQ), the apex body of the Vaiphei Students’ Association, had earlier clarified that Lalboi Vaiphei was not in Manipur on May 13, having travelled outside the state earlier for medical treatment
