Kuki Zo bodies in Moreh has called off the propose agitation slated to begin from November 27 following the respond made by ADHOC M& C13Bn, BSF Moreh
The proposed public agitation slated to be taken up from November 27 in the case of Baby Eva Lamneikim Mate who was reportedly injured by Border Security Forces.
Hill Tribe Council Moreh, Moreh Youth Club, KSO Moreh Block, Liuli Women Union and Human Rights, Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi issued a join statement in Thursday, announcing that the propose agitation has ben call off.
As per the release, a meeting under the initiative of DIG 26 Sector, Assam Rifles and the 5 Assam Rifles, Moreh, was held between the CSOs and the BSF in the presence of the Sub-Divisional Officer, Town Commander 5 AR, Additional Superintendent of Police, OC Moreh Police on November 26, to which the case was discussed.
“Accordingly, a final meeting to resolve the issue was held at the Office of the Hill Tribal Council on November 27, between the CSOs and the concerned team in which it was agreed to resolve the issue with certain principles of compensating the girl child on humanitarian ground and the CSOs to continue extending co-operation to the BSF authorities too” stated the release.
The Kuki Zo bodies alleged that the matter was raised to the district administration officers by the victim's family and the CSOs. However, no concrete steps to resolve the issue was initiated except putting the whole issue with the BSF authorities alone.
From the beginning to the end, it was the Assam Rifles interference that the matter was resolved amicably by both party the release added.
The Kuki Zo bodies also informed the general public that the proposed agitation to demand justice for the baby child is being called-off for better understanding, co-operation and for building future human relationship.
They also requested the general public and the security forces to maintain speed limit while driving inside the town and to the public to avoid drunk driving for the safety of all.
it may be mention that Kuki-Zo bodies in Moreh, Tengnoupal district had earlier warned of launching intense agitation from November 27 over the delay and failure of the security forces and district administration to reimburse the medical expenses of a minor girl injured by a Border Security Forces. .
They stated that a BSF-used vehicle rammed and caused severe injury to baby Eva Lamneikim Mate, daughter of David Chungjang Mate of Moreh W/no.1 Homeguard Veng on the August 27 around 11.40 in the morning.
The Kuki zo bodies stated that a peaceful demand for the reimbursement of medical expenses was done on September 22, 2025 with a copy to all the district security forces and administration to avoid complication but no response was received from the concern authorities till date.
To deliver justice to the baby, the civil society organisation of Moreh warned that they will take up all form of public agitation such as, blockade of security vehicles, highway blockade, student’s Rally etc, from november 27 until justice is delivered and the concern authorities fails to meet the demand for medical expenses reimbursement.
