Chinlunthang Zou, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Singngat Assembly Constituency, has been elected as the new president of the Kuki People’s Alliance (KPA). The announcement follows the party’s Central Committee election held on April 17, 2026.
According to the official declaration, the following members have been elected to the KPA Central Committee for the 2026–2030 term:
The newly elected committee will assume office with immediate effect and serve until 2030 or until the next election is held.
The Kuki People’s Alliance, a relatively new political party established in 2022 ahead of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2022, made an early impact by securing two seats—Saikul and Singngat. Its legislators initially extended support to the BJP-led government in Manipur but withdrew backing in 2023 following the outbreak of ethnic violence in the state.
The election of a new leadership team is expected to play a key role in shaping the party’s direction ahead of future political developments in the region.
