The Kuki Students’ Organisation, Churachandpur, organised a candlelight vigil at the Wall of Remembrance in Tuibong on Sunday night.
The candlelight vigil was held in remembrance of Kuki-Zo martyrs who lost their lives in the Manipur conflict. The vigil was part of Separation Day, observed by the Kuki-Zo people on Sunday to mark three years of separation between the Kuki-Zo communities and the Meiteis.
People from all walks of life participated in the vigil. During the programme, student leaders addressed the gathering, and religious leaders led the mass in prayer.

Speaking to the media, a KSO leader, Lhingneithem, said, “The candlelight vigil has been organised in remembrance and reflection as we mark the third year since the genocidal events that took place in the Imphal Valley.
May 3 is no longer a random day for the Kuki-Zo people, as it is a solemn reminder of the pain, loss, displacement, and suffering endured by the community.
To honour the martyrs and their families, the KSO Churachandpur took the initiative to organise this candlelight vigil,” Lhingneithem added.
