Kuki Diaspora in London Seeks International Action Over Killing of Church Leaders in Manipur

The Kuki Worship Service (KWS) London, representing a minority Kuki Christian community in Britain, has strongly condemned the deadly ambush on Kuki-Zo church leaders and civilians between Kotzim and Kotlen, allegedly carried out by the ZUF-Kamson faction and associated VBIGs.

In a statement issued from London, KWS expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Reverend V. Sitlhou, Reverend Kaigoulen, and Pastor Paogoulen, while five others were reportedly injured in the attack.

The organisation described the late Reverend V. Sitlhou as a man of grace, dedication, and peace, noting that he was returning from the 1st United Baptist Convention Assembly held at GBA Centre Church, Chiengkonpang, under the theme “One in Christ,” when the ambush took place on the road from Churachandpur to Kangpokpi.

KWS also recalled Reverend Sitlhou’s earlier role as a peacemaker between the Kuki-Zo and Tangkhul communities, where he had worked alongside the NJCF in Kohima toward reconciliation.

Calling the killing of a peace worker “heartbreaking and unconscionable,” the organisation urged the India government to conduct a full and transparent investigation and bring those responsible to justice without delay.

The London-based group further appealed to the United Kingdom government and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office to exert diplomatic pressure on India, stating that the targeting of Christian leaders and civilians is a serious human rights concern requiring urgent international attention.

KWS also offered prayers for the bereaved families, the injured, and all those affected by the tragedy, while extending words of comfort and solidarity to the victims’ families.
