The Kangpokpi District Internally Displaced Persons Welfare Committee (KDIDWC) has elected a new team of office-bearers at its general body meeting-cum-election held at the EBCCF Campus in Saparmeina, Kangpokpi district, marking a renewed organisational effort to address the welfare and concerns of internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Hegin Haokip was elected president of the committee, while Thangboi Haokip and Lungoulen Guite were elected vice presidents. Lunminlal Baite was elected general secretary.

The other office-bearers elected to the committee are Lutminlun Hangshing and S.K. as joint secretaries; Lalboi Khongsai as secretary (finance); Ginlal as secretary (information and publicity); and Hatnu Kipgen as treasurer.

The newly elected office-bearers were dedicated to their responsibilities and received blessings through a prayer led by Pastor Tongkhojang Lhouvum of KIBC Kangpokpi.

The election marks the constitution of a new leadership team tasked with carrying forward the committee's organisational responsibilities and representing the concerns of internally displaced persons in Kangpokpi district.

With displacement continuing to pose significant humanitarian and socio-economic challenges for affected families, the committee's role remains crucial in voicing their concerns, facilitating welfare initiatives and pursuing measures aimed at addressing their needs and hardships.

The newly elected leadership is expected to provide organisational direction to the committee and strengthen collective efforts towards safeguarding the welfare, dignity and interests of displaced persons.

The meeting concluded with the dedication and blessing prayer for the new office-bearers, seeking divine guidance as they assume their respective responsibilities.
