In a historic crackdown against drug trafficking, Kangpokpi Police has seized illegally acquired movable and immovable properties including immovable and movable worth ₹5.92 crore in connection with the Tumuyon Khullen drugs case. This marks the first instance in Manipur where properties amassed through narco-trade have been frozen under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The breakthrough stems from the July 24, 2025 arrest of four individuals from Tumuyon Khullen village under Kangpokpi Police Station. During the operation, police recovered 273 soap cases of contraband heroin weighing around 3.5 kg, unaccounted cash of ₹99,09,850, seven mobile phones, and two vehicles—a DI and a Hyundai Creta.

According to police, the offence is punishable with a minimum of ten years’ imprisonment or more under the NDPS Act.

A detailed financial probe was subsequently carried out under Section 68E, Chapter VA of the NDPS Act to trace assets illegally acquired through narco-trade. The investigation revealed that the accused persons and their family members held properties worth ₹5,92,60,365 (Five Crore Ninety-Two Lakh Sixty Thousand Three Hundred and Sixty-Five) amassed from drug trafficking.

Authorities feared that the assets could be transferred or hidden to frustrate legal proceedings. Acting swiftly, Kangpokpi Police issued an order of freezing and seizure of the illegally acquired properties under Section 68F(1) read with Section 68E of the NDPS Act on September 19, 2025.

The order has been formally submitted to the Competent Authority & Administration, SAFEMA (FOP) Act & NDPS Act, Kolkata, ensuring due legal process for the forfeiture of the properties.

This decisive action is being hailed as a landmark in Manipur’s war on drugs, sending a strong message against narco-trafficking and its illicit financial gains.
