
DIGP Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) P. G. Singsit on Wednesday interacted with the Kuki Inpi Churachandpur, student bodies in Churachandpur, and District Police/NAB officials on poppy cultivation, drug-related harm, community safety and legal livelihoods at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Churachandpur.
As per a release issued by the NAB, the purpose of the interaction was to understand community perceptions and concerns relating to drugs and poppy cultivation; identify the social, economic, educational and livelihood pressures affecting young people and families; and discuss the impact of drug use and drug-related crime on health, education, safety and community well-being.
The interaction was also held to identify gaps in prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, livelihood support and youth engagement; improve coordination and trust between government institutions, civil society organisations (CSOs), community institutions and young people; and develop practical and measurable actions for the next 6–12 months.
Student bodies present at the meeting included the Kuki Students Organisation, Hmar Students Association, Zou Sangnaupang Pawlpi, Young Vaiphei Association, Gangte Students Association and other student organisations, along with District Police/NAB officials.
