
Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS, today visited flood-affected areas of the district to assess the damage caused by flash floods in several parts of Churachandpur town and its surrounding areas on Thursday afternoon.
The flood-effected areas visited today included Sielmat, Lower Chapel Lane, Hiangtam Lamka, Chiengkonpang and Beulalane within Churachandpur town. During the visit, the DC interacted with the flood-affected families and distributed relief materials to them. The DC assured the residents of all possible support from the District Administration and informed that damage assessment is underway for further assistance.
Heavy incessant rain since Thursday afternoon led to waterlogging and damage in several parts of the town. Mr. Thangjohnson, S/o (L) Paukhanmung of New Lamka Vengnuam South who was reportedly drowned yesterday while trying to take his construction material swept away by the current of water across the river during embankment construction work along the Lanva river. As of now, there is no trace of the missing person.
The DC and District Administration officials also visited various philanthropic organizations who engaged in the search operation of the missing body along the Tuitha river and distributed water bottles and refreshment. The District Administration appreciates the efforts of the various philanthropic organizations of the district involved in the search.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Seiminthang Lenthang, Additional Deputy Commissioner, SDOs and other officials of the district administration. (DIO Ccpur)
