Congress office bearers and workers in Mokokchung, Nagaland, resign en masse from party

As many as 61 Congress office bearers and members of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), District Congress Committee (DCC), Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, the Minority Department, Seva Dal, as well as DCC advisers and active executive members, have submitted their en masse resignation from all party posts and the primary membership of the Indian National Congress on Tuesday.

In a letter addressed to the President of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), the office bearers and members stated that "the difficult decision has been necessitated due to the continued mismanagement and autocratic functioning of the NPCC leadership. Over the past few months, its actions and decisions have led to widespread chaos, confusion, and division among the rank and file of the party in the district."

They alleged that, instead of strengthening the organisation and upholding democratic principles, the leadership had ignored die-hard Congress workers and created an environment of mistrust and factionalism.

The leaders stated that this had severely weakened the party in the district, making itimpossible for them to continue serving the people with dignity under the present dispensation.

"We have remained loyal to the ideals of the party even when it was on the verge of extinction in 2015. However, we can no longer remain silent spectators to the destruction of the party organisation in our district in particular and the state in general," the letter stated.
