Churachandpur District Magistrate Prohibits Sale or Delivery of Petrol/Diesel in Loose Containers

The Churachandpur District Magistrate, Dharun Kumar S, has issued a prohibitory order under Section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, thereby prohibiting the sale or delivery of petrol/diesel in loose containers such as jerrycans, bottles, cans, or similar vessels, with immediate effect and until further orders.

However, such sale may be permitted only upon the production of valid written authorisation from a competent authority specifying the purpose and quantity.

The order cites concerns that there is a likelihood of hoarding, black marketing, and uneven distribution of petroleum products within the district.

The District Magistrate instructed dealers to maintain daily stock and sales registers, which shall be made available for inspection by authorised officers on demand.

All retail outlets (petrol pumps) within the district are also instructed to ensure the fair and orderly sale of petrol and diesel to the public, without discrimination, and to avoid hoarding or diversion of stock, ensuring continuous availability during notified operating hours.

Any violation of this order shall be punishable under Section 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, in addition to any other action permissible under law, the order stated.
