
The District Level Coordination Committee meeting on Stop Diarrhoea Campaign-2026 was convened today at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Tuibong, Churachandpur under the theme “Diarrhoea ki Roktham, Safai aur ORS se Ratkhen apna dhyaan”. Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, District Health Society, Churachandpur, Krishna Kumar, IAS chaired the meeting.
In his opening remarks, he welcomed all the members present. He stressed that prevention through hygiene and timely ORS use is key during monsoon. He directed the Health Department to conduct a dedicated coordination meeting for ASHAs and Anganwadi workers to improve teamwork and communication at village level, with Social Welfare, ICDS and DPU also invited. He instructed preparation of 2-3 short videos on handwashing, rainy season precautions and infection prevention for circulation on social media and display at CSCs, PSCs and Anganwadi Centres, along with public notification on referral for severe cases. He asked PHED to provide water testing kits to women workers and maintain village-wise data on testing frequency for early mitigation. He directed that a specialized ward for severe diarrhoea cases be kept ready and all activities continue beyond 31st July since monsoon will persist. He thanked all officials for their commitment to the meeting.
Dr Jire L Pudaite, District Nodal Officer, Child Health, CMO Office presented the campaign strategy through PowerPoint. She informed that the campaign will be targeting 2,894 children aged 0-5 years in the district. The objective is to improve ORS use and raise awareness on prevention and management of childhood diarrhoea. Strategies include handwashing and hygiene in schools and health facilities, safe drinking water and sanitation, waste management, rotavirus and measles vaccination, training of health workers on exclusive breastfeeding and zinc supplementation, setting up ORS-zinc corners, and case management through Plan A, B, C.
She reported 3,150 diarrhoea cases and 726 admissions in 2025-26, with zero child deaths. Planned activities include ORS-zinc distribution to households, house-to-house visits, handwashing demonstrations in schools, water tank cleaning, and PHED water testing for PHCs and CHCs.
Department concerned also reported that training of District Level line department staff will begin from 26 June 2026, followed by training of ASHA and Anganwadi workers. House-to-house visits and preparation/distribution of ORS and zinc will be carried out by frontline workers. The campaign will be launched on 30 June 2026, and all activities will continue from 30 June to 31 July 2026.
