The bodies of three Kuki village volunteers, who were reportedly killed in an attack by Naga militants on October 31 in Noney/Tamenglong district, were brought to Churachandpur late Sunday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Lenminsang Kipgen, Thanglensang Singson and Thangkhosei Haokip. They reportedly lost their lives while performing their duties when they came under attack in the district.

Their bodies were transported to Churachandpur via the Tongjei Maril (Old Cachar Road), passing through Joujangtek.

A large gathering of people, along with representatives of various Kuki civil society organisations (CSOs), received the bodies at Kaprang, Churachandpur, at around 8 pm. The reception was marked by a solemn tribute as hundreds of people gathered to pay their respects to the deceased volunteers.

The bodies have been taken to the District Hospital Mortuary, where they will remain until the concerned civil society organisations decide on the burial arrangements.
