BJP Manipur Pradesh President A. Sharda Devi Takes Oath as Rajya Sabha MP

BJP Manipur Pradesh President Smt. Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi took the oath as a Member of the Rajya Sabha today in the national capital.

Sharda Devi was elected unopposed to the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Manipur. She succeeds outgoing Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba. Her term will expire in 2032.

Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath/affirmation to seven newly elected and re-elected Members in the Rajya Sabha Chamber today. The Members are Mansingh Meraman Parmar, Tarun Chugh, Dr. Alka Singh, Jitendra Meghjibhai Kanzariya, Rajendra Hiralal Jain, M. Nagaraja, and Smt. Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi.

Four Members took the oath/affirmation in Hindi, one in Kannada, one in Punjabi, and one in Manipuri. Two Members are from the state of Gujarat, while the remaining Members represent Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, and Rajasthan, with one Member from each state.

Harivansh, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha; Jagat Prakash Nadda, Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers; Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs; Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice; Jairam Ramesh and Praful Patel, Members of the Rajya Sabha; P.C. Mody, Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha; and other senior officers of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat were also present on the occasion.
