
In a significant step toward streamlining local transport and strengthening public mobility, the Kangpokpi District Taxi Owners and Drivers Association was formally inaugurated on Saturday in a well-attended ceremony marked by community pride and institutional support at Saparmeina.
The event, graced by distinguished leaders, transport stakeholders, and representatives from various civil bodies, highlighted the association’s mission to bring professionalism, discipline, and accountability to taxi operations across Kangpokpi district. The event also underscored the growing need for regulated passenger services amid increasing travel demands within the district and its adjoining regions.
Rev. Onthang Haokip, Church Pastor Centre Church Salem Village Saparmeina formally inaugurated the newly formed Kangpokpi District Taxi Owners and Drivers Association and offered a blessing prayers.
Speaking at the ceremony, President of Kangpokpi District Taxi Owners and Drivers Association, Hengam emphasized that the newly formed association will play a crucial role in ensuring safe, affordable, and reliable transport for the public. He noted that organized transport bodies not only protect the welfare of drivers and vehicle owners but also help the administration maintain smooth traffic flow and uphold public safety standards.
The Association Secretary, Nouwie reiterated their commitment to promoting unity and cooperation among all taxi drivers and owners; ensuring fair fare systems and passenger-friendly services; enhancing driver discipline, road safety, and grievance redressal; acting as a bridge between the transport community and district authorities and strengthening employment stability and welfare initiatives for members.
The inaugural event concluded with a pledge to uphold integrity and service excellence, positioning the association as a vital pillar in Kangpokpi’s growing transport infrastructure.
With its establishment, Kangpokpi District Taxi Owners and Drivers Association is expected to usher in a more organized, efficient, and community-centric transport environment, benefitting both the travelling public and the driving fraternity of the district.
