MP Sanajaoba's office files complaint against Manipur IGP Themthing Ngashangva over alleged unruly behaviour

Maisnam Shivadutta Singh a personal secretary to Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba has filed a complaint against Inspector General of Police, Manipur Themthing Ngashangva for his alleged ‘unruly behaviour and threat’ against Sanajaoba and his security personnel.

Shivadutta submit a report to the governor of Manipur , stating that "about 1:30 in the evening on November 20, Themthing Ngashangva barged inside the residential compound of the MP and threatened the security personnel of the MP that he will file FIR against them by charging that the MP is responsible for organising rally of the IDP by sheltering them and giving them refuge”

Shivadutta also alleged that the IGP also shouted and threatened the security personnel of Sanajaoba and he also mentioned report that the residential compound of the MP is also the Royal Palace (Konung) of the State of Manipur which is considered a holy place.

The personal secretary of the MP also made a request that necessary action may be taken up against the IGP to restore the dignity and the respect of the MP and in the meantime, the IGP may be placed under suspension.

The complaint comes the same day wherein IDPs in the valley district of Manipur , supported by valley based CSOs launched a protest demanding cancellation of the current year Sangai festival which is schedule to begin on Nov 21.

The protestors reportedly tried to storm the main venue of the Sangai festival at Hatta Kangjeibung, Imphal which is near to the residence of the member of Parliament after which altercation broke out between the police and the protestors.

Upon learning the news,  some BJP MLAs led by former Manipur chief minister Biren Singh reportedly rush to the MP Sanajaoba’s residence in the evening.

Manipur BJP President Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi also took to social media and stated that “Such an act particularly towards a leader who embodies the cultural and traditional dignity of our land shows a shocking level of high-handedness and disrespect. No authority has the right to violate the sanctity of a home, least of all that of an Hon’ble MP, on the mere allegation of giving shelter to IDPs protesting the Sangai Festival 2025”.
