Churachandpur Forest Division Celebrates Wildlife Week 2025 with Student Competitions

The event aimed to raise awareness among young minds about the importance of wildlife conservation and fostering harmony between humans and animals.

In celebration of Wildlife Week 2025, the Churachandpur Forest Division organized an Essay Writing and Painting Competition at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Tuibong, Churachandpur. Held under the theme “Human-Animal Co-existence,” the event aimed to raise awareness among young minds about the importance of wildlife conservation and fostering harmony between humans and animals.

The event began with a short formal session, anchored by Lunkhomang Haokip, Range Officer (RO), Churachandpur, who gave an overview of the competition and its objectives. Sister Lucia, Principal of St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, delivered a warm welcome address, encouraging students to express their ideas with creativity and passion.

Delivering the keynote address, Smt. S.L. Niangthianhoi, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Churachandpur, highlighted the significance of the theme and stressed the urgent need for a collective effort toward wildlife protection and sustainable coexistence.

The formal session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by George Singson, RO, Singngat, following which the competitions commenced.

Students participated in two categories:

  • Category I: Classes VI to VIII
  • Category II: Classes IX to XII

A total of 128 students from 13 schools enthusiastically took part, showcasing their talent, awareness, and commitment to the cause through thought-provoking essays and vibrant paintings. The event served as a platform to engage youth in meaningful dialogue on environmental responsibility and coexistence with nature.
