A team comprising the Hon’ble MLA of 57-Henglep Assembly Constituency and senior officials from the District Administration conducted a field visit today to inspect the ongoing landslide debris clearance along NH-02 (Churachandpur–Tipaimukh road).

The team travelled up to the 59-kilometre mark of NH-02, covering the stretch between Chiangpi and D. Khawzim, as well as other key inter-village roads under Henglep Sub-Division, to assess firsthand the progress of restoration works.

The delegation included Letzamang Haokip, MLA, Henglep AC; Dharun Kumar S (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur; Prakhar Pandey (IPS), Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur; Seiminthang Lenthang, ADC Churachandpur; and Th. Mangminthang Gangte, SDO Henglep.

As part of the relief efforts, the team, in collaboration with the Henglep Sub-Division Chiefs' Association, distributed over 200 bags of rice to villages stranded due to multiple landslides in the region.

The primary objective of the visit was to evaluate the extent of the damage and fast-track the restoration process to enable the early resumption of vehicular movement along this crucial route. The team interacted with chiefs, villagers and field workers from NHIDCL and BIPL, and instructed all concerned agencies to coordinate effectively to ensure the timely and safe clearance of debris.

The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to restoring normalcy at the earliest, placing utmost importance on public safety and uninterrupted connectivity. Further efforts are also underway to liaise with relevant departments to mobilize additional relief materials to the affected villages.

It may be noted that NH-02 and several interior roads have remained cut off for the past few days due to heavy rainfall-triggered landslides at multiple locations, severely affecting access and mobility in the area.
