
Manipur BJP leaders on Friday attended at ‘ Women’s Get-Together Programme’ organised in support of Gaigongdin Panmei, IRS (Retd.), intending BJP candidate from the Tamenglong Assembly Constituency, held at the Convention Hall, Medical Gate, Tamenglong, on Friday.
Rajya Sabha MP and President of BJP Manipur Pradesh A. Sharda Devi, General Secretaries of BJP Manipur Pradesh K. Sarat Kumar Singh and Premananda Meetei graced the programme as chief guest and guests of honour.
State Vice President, BJP Manipur Pradesh Nimbus Nongthombam; President of the ST Morcha, BJP Manipur Pradesh Lanjaigai Kamei,; former MLA Jangamlung Panmei; District President, BJP Tamenglong Daniel Malangmei, and other party leaders also attended the programme.
Speaking at the gathering, the intending candidate Gaigongdin Panmei highlighted the need for a medical college in the district, improvement of healthcare facilities, measures to address unemployment and better road connectivity.
Gaigongdin also spoke about strengthening agricultural production and called for attention to the incomplete ADB road project, among other development concerns.
Rajya Sabha MP A. Sharda Devi while speaking at the occasion spoke on the need to provide women with greater opportunities to participate in social and economic activities. Sharda said BJP leadership at the Centre has been emphasizing platforms for women to contribute to social causes and pursue greater economic and physical empowerment.
Women from different walks of life including religious leaders, village representatives took part in the programme.
