The Foothills Naga Co-ordination Committee (FNCC), in pursuance of the resolution adopted during its last executive meeting, has reiterated its firm decision to resume the indefinite bandh in all Foothills Naga areas in Manipur.

This decision follows the continued failure of the state government to honour and implement the provisions of the Memorandum of Agreement signed on February 20, 2026, the FNCC said in a release issued on Wednesday.

“Despite repeated appeals and sufficient time afforded for compliance, there has been no meaningful progress, compelling the Committee to take this course of action. Accordingly, the FNCC announces that the indefinite bandh, including restrictions on movement and economic activities as determined by the Committee within the Foothills Naga areas, will come into effect from midnight of April 23, 2026, until further notice,” the FNCC stated.

The FNCC urges the government to act with urgency and sincerity in upholding its commitments to avoid further inconvenience to the public. The Committee also appeals to all concerned to extend cooperation and maintain peace and discipline during the period of the bandh.
