
As part of its continued commitment to the welfare and well-being of veterans, the Indian Army, under Spear Corps, organised an ex-servicemen (ESM) rally at Gospel Centenary Hall, Churachandpur, on Friday.
The rally served as a comprehensive outreach platform for ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, Veer Matas, and their families from across the region.
The rally, themed "Veterans – Building the Nation Beyond the Battlefield," aimed to reinforce the enduring bond between the Indian Army and its veterans while facilitating the delivery of essential services at a single location.
The event was graced by Lieutenant General Abhijit S. Pendharkar, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps, and Major General Shubhankar Basu, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Red Shield Division, along with senior military and civil dignitaries.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and Veer Matas, reflecting their continued trust and strong association with the Indian Army.
A wide range of facilities was provided at the venue, including a grievance cell, medical camp, SPARSH & ECHS assistance counters, Rajya and Zila Sainik Board desks, PCDA (Guwahati) and ARO support desks, CSD services, an Aadhaar verification cell, a postal department desk, and assistance from leading banks such as the State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank, and Axis Bank.
Cultural programmes were also organised as part of the event, adding to community engagement.
