Around 40–50 villagers of Bukpi village in Thanlon Sub-Division have reportedly fallen sick over the past week, suffering from ailments including fever, headache, cold and general weakness, raising concern among residents and the village administration.

The number of affected villagers has reportedly continued to increase, prompting the Bukpi Village Authority (VA) to seek immediate medical intervention.

Bukpi village, located along the Churachandpur–Tipaimukh road, has approximately 224 households.

Expressing concern over the situation, the Bukpi Village Authority wrote to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Churachandpur, on August 18, requesting the immediate deployment of a medical team to the village.

In its letter, the VA brought to the CMO’s attention what it described as a serious health concern in the village, stating that around 40–50 villagers had been suffering from fever, headache, cold and general sickness for the past week.

“The increasing number of affected persons has caused serious concern among the villagers, and immediate medical attention is urgently required,” the VA stated.

The village authority requested the CMO’s office to send a medical team to Bukpi at the earliest to examine the affected persons, provide necessary medicines and treatment, and assess the situation to determine the possible cause of the illness.

The VA also appealed for urgent intervention and medical assistance to protect the health and well-being of the villagers and prevent the illness from spreading further.
