Amid prolonged concerns over the unfinished construction of Guite Road (NH-102B), the Zomi Economic Planning and Development Agency (ZEPADA) held a series of meetings with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) officials on June 4 and 5 in New Delhi.
The Guite Road, considered a critical lifeline for the Kuki-Zo community, has remained incomplete for over 16 years, causing significant hardship for travelers and residents alike.
During the meetings, the ZEPADA Delhi Working Group conveyed the urgent need for accelerated progress on the road’s development. In response, NHIDCL expressed its concern over the stalled progress, particularly on construction Packages 4A and 4B. To address this, NHIDCL has reportedly appointed a new agency—AK Shivhare Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., a company based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh—to resume and complete the remaining work.
Additionally, NHIDCL informed ZEPADA representatives of its plans to begin construction and repair work on Tipaimukh Road (NH-150), signaling broader infrastructure commitments in the region.
While NHIDCL has made visible improvements since taking over responsibility for Guite Road, recurring logistical and administrative challenges have hindered full completion. ZEPADA emphasized the importance of overcoming these hurdles to provide a reliable transportation network for the community.
The meetings concluded with a mutual commitment to prioritize the road’s completion and to maintain open channels for coordination between NHIDCL and stakeholders in the region.
