The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has condemned the armed attack allegedly carried out by NSCN-IM against the ZUF at Kaiphundai Village in Tamenglong on Friday morning in a public place.

In a press release issued on Friday, the ZUF stated that the attack demonstrates a complete disregard for human life.

Sensing the critical and volatile situation in the state of Manipur, the ZUF stated that the front has been striving hard to uphold universal peace and communal harmony, as desired and appealed for by all sections of the public.

"Despite our efforts to defend and safeguard the safety of the public, the NSCN-IM continues to project and provoke a war-like atmosphere in public places, creating unrest and insecurity among the public," the ZUF stated.

The release further stated that such actions are anti-people and are driven by an ideology aimed at projecting the group's popularity, controlling the public through its own narrative and logic, and continuing to exploit the resources of the Zeliangrong region for financial gain.

"No political ideology, slogan, or objective can justify violence against fellow indigenous people. Any movement that turns its weapons against its own people cannot represent the people in the truest sense of the word 'revolution'," the ZUF added.

The front called upon the public to unite and cooperate in its efforts to promote peace and development in society and to outrightly reject all forms of violence and conflict in the region. The front also assured the public of its commitment to bringing about peace and normalcy through its defensive measures against all destructive social elements in society.
